I was perusing Island People Mas’ website now that pre-registration is open. And I noticed this message at the top of the screen: “Deposits are Non-Refundable. Prices Subject to Change.”
What does this mean for you?
- Well if you pre-register and Island People Mas decides to increase prices then too bad.
- Maybe you don’t like any of the costumes listed right now. So you take a risk and choose the “open option” without seeing any of the new costumes. Well if the new costumes are released and you hate them, then you may be in a bit of a pickle as IP will not refund your deposit.
My advice is to wait until ALL information has been released and then make your decision. Wait for the new costumes to be released on Monday 29 August. Wait for official prices to be posted. Once you have all the information you need then go ahead and register.
I like Island People Mas. They misread the tastes of their supporters with their presentation for Trinidad Carnival 2012 but they are working hard to provide masqueraders with what they want. They have a lovely following and the vibes on the road are crazy good. But I would never advocate giving your money to ANY BAND if you do not know what you are getting. And that is my opinion.
Carry on carnival people…
